Jenna's House of Idiosyncrasies Version 10.0 [Focus.]

In Which She Actually is Disappointed in the Internet

July 28, 2002 - 12:19pm

WOW.

Everyone needs to go get Ad-Aware. Now.

I just ran it on my laptop (because I keep getting popup ads when surfing sites I had built, so I knew that couldn't be right...) and it detected, get this:

168 Components.

I was able to exclude like, 17 of them, meaning that there were 151 cookies and programs that I didn't even know about sitting on my computer, trying to feed me ads.

Crazy.

Ad-Aware is like a virus scanner except better. Number 1, the price can't be beat. It's free. Number 2, I have yet to ever detect anything with McAfee and and running this this once allowed me to clear all kinds of crap off my computer. Rock.

Things about the Internet I do not understand:

Neopets.

Tag boards.

Doll sites.

{Edit: when researching “Doll sites” to link to for the entry, I kinda got caught up and made my own doll:

Make Your Own Doll

It's supposed to be my likeness. Studded jeans, drink in hand, that kind of thing?

Now I'm disappointed in myself....}

P.S. I ::heart:: Movable Type. It is making it way too easy to update this thing.
