A Grand Success

Sarah Tollerson & the Big Fantastic

“For those of you who don't know, the man standing in the back is my father, Thom Tollerson”, [pauses as everyone who knows and loves Thom applauds], “and he taught me everything I know, including how to wear a skirt.” - Sarah Tollerson

106 West is open once again, ready to provide musical entertainment to the greater Winder area. Here are some pictures of the opening event last night. Also check out the extremely talented bands who rocked the house for us - Sarah Tollerson & the Big Fantastic, Mike Willis & the Escape Artists, and Leaving Araby.

If You Feeling Like a Pimp...

This weekend has been pretty rockin'. Arlington Priest played 106 West on Friday and dedicated a song to the Tollersons, at which point Sarah and myself almost fainted like fangirls.

Not really, but we sure sounded like we were going to, being all gushy.

Saturday I went to a party and got to hang out with the nicest man in the world, Matt Anthony. We ended up at the Waffle House and hilarity ensued.

Today, I slept. All. Day.

This is a bad job, except that I finally feel rested for the first time in at least a week.

Now I'm using Bailey's to lull myself back to sleep. We'll see how that works.

Because I'm Just That Fucking Gorgeous, Darling

August 15, 2003 - 6:13pm

The boys who have just moved in across the hall are very loud in their comings-and-goings. Last night they kept me up til about 3:45 this morning talking loudly with slurred words, right on the other side of a door in mine and Abie's room. I think Abie was spared most of the yelling and running and doors opening and slamming shut because she falls asleep much faster than I do. Lucky. I need to bring some testosterone infused people over here to intimidate these drunken louts. Maybe I could get Kyle to unleash the fury on their asses. That would be very gratifying.

I have been feeling kinda down about some things lately (as some of you know or at least have guessed—and it's actually branching out a little into crazy moodswings). This is mostly irrelevant for the purposes of these pages, except that if you'd like to make me feel better, go fill out my application to date me. (if you haven't already). It in no way constitutes any obligation to actually date me. I just like to read to the answers.

If you are in Winder, and you come to 106 West, I'll see you tonight!

Unorganizied

The weekend was very short, but good! But short.

Saturday night the illustrious Sean Kagalis played at one oh six west. And he was awesome. He's always awesome but brotha was on on Saturday! He's got a new record coming out soon and it is going to be so badass. Everyone of you should buy two copies: one for yourself and one for a friend.

Justin Reynolds (formerly of annoying local pop-punk band Split Fifty) played on the bill as well, and let me tell you people, boy is coming along. I mean, really. Give him just a little more time and he'll be all polished and ready to make some record company ridiculously rich. He also got a spiffy new haircut so you can see his eyes finally.

I slept a lot this weekend, only to have to get up early this morning and be just as tired as ever. I had the am/pm mixed up on my alarm clock, and it didn't go off at all, so I woke up at 7:30 to my roommate's wristwatch alarm. Oy! I'm gonna be late for work. And I was. But on the plus side I heard someone call my Starbucks guy Nathan. He looks just like a Nathan too. I know Starbucks is, like, the man or something and going there makes me a big sellout, but it's a great way to start your day. Almost everybody knows my name and Nathan knows my drink. (Iced Latte, if you must know.) Starbucks people are the first people I usually speak to in the morning. Funky, right?

Noon came around (very quickly! time flies when you stay busy) and I still had all these incidents left in my queue so I skipped my Poli-Sci discussion and worked for an extra hour. I'm feeling like a bonafide web author these days. I make changes and upload files and send requests to graphics! Why is this so exciting? I don't know! But it is.

Lunch, then religion, where Sonam cancelled class. I was going to come here (to the library) and work on my art appreciation paper due on Thursday but of course I forgot to bring all my notes from the museum. Blah to that. In theory I could go home and work there but I never get anything done at home.

Of course, I suppose I'm not really getting anything done right now.

I have to go see my advisor on Wednesday so she can tell me what I'm supposed to take next year. Quite frankly I'm just plain confused on the matter. Everytime I think I'm filling out the requirements I find out there is something that they forgot to tell me before. Colleges on the whole, I think, suck when it comes to just stating your requirements out right for you. They'd rather you just skip around 40 different web pages or piles of documents or speak to your peers and not know which one is actually up to date. Oy!

I'm going to try and do something constructive now. Someone please leave a comment telling me when mother's and father's days are! I have no clue.

But I Must!

Happy Holidays

December 21, 2002 - 6:40am

As promised, the internet has given me the ability to be a master digital archivist of my life. Sounds like a bad hp commercial.

Anyway.

Thursday's Report

December 12, 2002 - 6:06pm

So I have decided that Marine Enviroment is the lost cause to end all lost causes. I know that it is no longer typical of me to give up so easily, but it is a matter of priorities. I'm not going to give up valuable time studying for other tests in order to maybe salvage the wreckage and pick out pieces of flotsam and jetsam that I probably already have anyway.

In the metaphor, the class is a shipwreck. But I think I went too far with it.

Anyway, my mind has reached a point of saturation after studying for three days, I have have decided it is time to go get some dinner, then go home and relax and go to bed early so I don't miss my 8 AM Rock History final.

I'm not giving into crippling panic of semesters past. I have worked hard this year. Some classes will show it, and some classes won't, but that's the way the cookie crumbles, you know? I'm trying not to sweat it.

Everything is going to be fine. I've been trying my best, and that is all I can continue to do.

Despite the horrors of academia, everything continues to look very bright.

Weird.

Everyone come see me and an assorted cast of characters perform in 106 West's Annual Christmas Show this weekend.

Guaranteed to be much cooler than it sounds.

Not long now

December 8, 2002 - 11:22pm

The weekend was good.

On Friday I went with a group to see My Big Fat Greek Wedding. See this movie. I command you. So funny, and so sweet. And totally makes you wish you were Greek.

Saturday, I went to lunch with my dad, and then I got a new watch battery and new shoelaces! If you have ever been a starving student, you understand how thrilling it is to be able to afford things you actually need. My shoelaces were falling apart, and obviously, my watch had stopped. I also got some Dr. Martens's leathercare and now my shoes look {almost} like new. Yey!!

Davistreet played at 106 West in the evening, and then me and my crüe convorted around Winder, visiting both Waffle House and Walmart. That's what there is to do in Winder. But it's fun.

Today I rehearsed my numbers for next week's Christmas program. Everyone come out!!! There are going to be lots of special guests. Then my fam drove me back to school, and here I am.

Classes tomorrow, 2 finals on Friday, then one more on the 17th. Just gotta push through this last stretch.

Off to get my beauty sleep!!!

You can make cities here.

If I told you my plans for tonight I'd have to kill you. All will be revealed in time.

However, for all you curious Winderites, I will be working at 106 tomorrow.

Sexy young hip bands are playing! Stop by.
