Smile, though your heart is aching

December 24, 2008 - 11:14pm

I do this every year, (or, at least, every year since 2003) and it is absolutely compulsory.

As in years past, I must preface this with a warning to not proceed if you have delicate sensibilities. I would say, though, that overall, I've been especially good this year. Read More »

The Time of Year When We Look Back

December 24, 2006 - 1:48pm

We do this every year. Frank, R-rated discussion of friends, drinking, sex, music, money, illness, politics, and many other subjects follow. If you are a sensitive, delicate flower, I suggest you go elsewhere. Particularly if you are over 50 (if you baby boomers proceed anyway, I'll bear no responsibility for possible heart attacks). Because Sometimes You Watch a Meme Float Around Livejournal for Weeks and Begin to Get Jealous

February 23, 2005 - 9:17pm

I don't usually do this kind of thing (at least not anymore) but I can't help it; this invites all kinds of scandal. And I do love a good scandal.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year. Yeah.

December 24, 2003 - 11:38pm

This morning I was walking to work, through downtown Athens. Athens is a college town. 9 AM, Christmas Eve, downtown Athens, it's empty. Besides being eerily quiet, there are also about a billion parking spaces. And yet, there she was, the meter maid, wearing a Santa hat, giving out parking tickets to all the naughty boys and girls.

Merry. Freakin'. Christmas.

New Revised Standard Edition

September 14, 2003 - 6:42pm

So, I'm sick of surveys. I never thought I would say that but I am. They all seem to have the same questions after a while, and I am forced to give the same answers that at first seemed clever but now have formed into a trite mutation of themselves, as well as an excuse to not really write anymore. So until I see another original one, I think I am easing myself out of them.

It should be noted that what follows is not a survey.

I was inspired by this girl to dig up my 100_facts_about_me list from this place, revise it and publish it for you here. Enjoy, and if you feel so inclined, publish a similar list in your own journal.

It's much harder than you think. Read More »
